Hydro Out Wind In

Is this an annual event? It would be enough to send me to Canadian Tire to stock up on some wind power generation equipment…

Strong winds were expected to accompany the front, bringing gusts of up to 70 kilometres an hour over Metro Vancouver and the southern half of Vancouver Island Tuesday afternoon

Approximately 1,600 hydro customers in the Tofino area had already lost power by 10 a.m. Another 1,600 customers in the Lake Cowichan area and another 200 in Courtenay further up the island lost power earlier in the day, along with another 1,000 in the Sooke and Saanich areas near Victoria.

High winds, power outages hit Vancouver Island
