Searching for Engineering on Google

Google Blog Search One of the most annoying things about Google searching is that it is so good at picking up and noticing pages that get lots of hits, even if they are not entirely relevant to your search. I think the worst for this is the blog search function, so much so that I think that Google and I must have different opinions on what constitutes a blog, or is worthy of being in search results for a particular topic.

For instance, if you want to search for engineering in their blog search, sometimes you will end up with a whole bunch of job postings for Engineers around the world. To sort the wheat from the chaff, it is really quite easy. just pick the words that you don’t want to search for, and put a minus sign in front of them like this…Google Blog Search - Engineering

Doing this eliminates the employment postings and allows you to focus on what you were really searching for! Here’s my example link for searching Engineering Blogs.
