One of the benefits of See Click Fix is that it encourages people to report things, rather than walk by them. This is like a "Jane Jacobs" effect. The small things matter.

Since the site took off in New Haven, I now report everything down to, say, a brick that is slightly off-kilter. This kind of thing gets catalogued, and then down the line can prevent someone from becoming injured. Check out http://www.designnewhaven.com/2009/03/seeclickfix... for an example of how you can use the site to help mobilize a core of advocates/activists to resolve a particularly dangerous issue. That SCF issue has been viewed 1,000 times.

Yes, you can also use it to snitch on your neighbors anonymously- police encourage this since it can prevent much bigger problems from developing. . Check out http://blog.seeclickfix.com/2009/03/heroin-dealer... for an example.

Wow, that is very cool. I suppose I can't report my neighbours breaking bylaws on it, though??? Just kidding. Actually, it's a really good idea and I'll have to bear it in mind if I ever see anything iffy around here.
