Goats and Chickens on the Agenda in Castlegar

I was just informed that my letter suggesting that Goats and Chickens be allowed in Urban Areas of Castlegar will be on the agenda at the regular council meeting, 7pm, 23rd of June 2008.  I’d love to see anyone who is concerned about the rules regarding Urban Farming and sustainable living there to support this proposal. Let me know if you are able to attend. Thanks,

  1. Council seems to be reluctant, and it looks like they are going to wait until the Sustainability Planning Process tells them that they have to start loosening up and allowing more food production, including eggs within the municipality.

I have heard there are people who have gone “Chicken Underground” cause they are sick of waiting.
